Fourth Korean Speech Contest held at Baku State University

On Wednesday 3rd of December, the 4th Korean Speech Contest organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea was held in Baku State University.

 

In the Speech contest, thirteen contestants competed on the stage in front of the room full of the audience in the auditorium of the Baku State University.

 

The three winners of the contest won the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the other participants have been given Samsung Smartphones, as participant prize. The first place winner, Kamran Karimov is a 3rd year student in Korean studies at Baku State University. He has been learning Korean very hard at the University and working at the same time where he has practiced the knowledge of the language. His speech during the contest was related to the Korean culture and situations regarding dual meaning of words. When he was working at a Korean company, he always being told to give nails and in the response was noting to do because it also meant, “I can’t give it.”

 

The second place winner, Sevinj Rusifit, is a 3 year student in Korean studies at Azerbaijan Language University. She has studied in Seoul, the Republic of Korea for one year, where she has gained the valuable experience in Korean language. In her speech, she delivered her impressions on Koreans’ act of charming in Korean dramas.

 

The third place winner, Laman Hasanova, is 4th year student in Management at Azerbaijan Technical University. She has learned Korean language from SEBA courses, where she got a second degree of language proficiency. Moreover she became friends with Korean girl, after her interest in Korean language increased.

 

This contest through language and speech provided a good opportunity for the Korean and Azerbaijani people to understand each other even further.
