700 delegates from 156 countries to attend Global Forum on Youth Policies in Baku

“700 delegates from 156 countries will attend the Global Forum on Youth Policies in Baku tomorrow”, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Intigam Babayev said at a press conference today, APA reports.

 

“Plenary sessions on “Achievements and shortcomings of the 20 years passed since the adoption of the World Programme of Action for Youth”, “Key elements of the modern youth” and “guiding principles for integrated youth policy development” will be held in the Forum. Totally more than 20 topics, including education, business, peace and security, gender equality, leisure activities will be discussed at the event. At the end of the forum recommendations will be developed. Regional sessions will be chaired by five UN Economic Commissions for Africa, West Asia, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. Azerbaijani experts will be Farhad Hajiyev, Nadir Guluzade, Shahin Seyidzade and Fuad Muradov. So far, 115 governments have confirmed their participation”, Babayev said.

 

The Deputy Minister stressed that Azerbaijan is the first country which supports the UN’s global youth policy and this Forum is one of the biggest events on youth policy in the twenty-first century.

 

The Forum is convened by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Youth and Sports, United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth together with UNESCO, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Council of Europe.
