The powers of Azerbaijan’s consuls in foreign countries have been limited in accordance with the changes to the ‘Consular Statute of Azerbaijan’, adopted Oct. 17 by the country’s parliament Milli Majlis.
Under the changes, the consuls are deprived of the authority to extend or modify the visas issued for the entry, exit, or using Azerbaijan’s territory for transit.
The councils will be deprived of the opportunity to renew or modify the visas issued for the entry, exit, or use as a transit on the territory of Azerbaijan, according to the changes.
The bill was submitted for consideration by Milli Majlis (parliament) during the plenary session October 17.
