The rapporteur will prepare a document on “Escalation of the situation in Nagorno Karabakh and other occupied territories of Azerbaijan”

Today, Political Affairs and Democracy Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has held a meeting. APA’s Europe correspondent reports that the report on “Escalation of the situation in Nagorno Karabakh and other occupied territories of Azerbaijan” was discussed and British MP Robert Walter was appointed as rapporteur on this issue at the meeting.

Member of Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE Elkhan Suleymanov told APA that a rapporteur was appointed at the meeting for preparation of the report on “Escalation of the situation in Nagorno Karabakh and other occupied territories of Azerbaijan” on the basis of decision of PACE Bureau, which is related to the resolution submitted by him and was adopted on September 2 and confirmed at the plenary meeting on September 29: “Robert Walter left behind former chairman of PACE, French MP Jean-Claude Mignon with 35 votes at the voting. I must underline that Armenian government, pro-Armenian groupings in the PACE, pro-Armenian forces in the leading power centers have mobilized to prevent not only adoption of a document exposing their aggressive policy and demanding sanctions against this country, but also its preparation. However, we hope that despite of pressures, the newly-appointed rapporteur will prepare an objective report, inform world community once again about that Armenia is an aggressive state and committed mass crime against civilians in the occupied territories, and demand the imposition of sanctions on aggressive Armenia for the first time”.
