Delegation of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic visits Poland

A delegation of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has visited Poland as part of the days of Nakhchivan held in Krakow on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Autonomous Republic.

During the three-day trip, the delegation led by first deputy chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Azer Zeynalov attended the anniversary celebrations in Krakow.

The delegation also held meetings at the Krakow branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Jagiellonian University, AGH University of Science and Technology, as well as Krakow University of Economics.

During the meetings, Zeynalov stressed the importance of the bilateral cooperation, and said there was good potential for expanding ties between the two countries in the fields of science and education.

Chairman of the Nakhchivan Department of ANAS Academician Ismail Hajiyev and rector of the Nakhchivan State University, Professor Saleh Maharramov spoke of the government`s attention to the development of science and education in the Autonomous Republic and modern infrastructure created in Nakhchivan.

A protocol between the Nakhchivan Department of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and Krakow Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences on cooperation for 2014-2016 in scientific sphere, and a protocol of intention between the Nakhchivan State University and Krakow University of Economics were signed.

A meeting between businessmen from Nakhchivan and Krakow was also held.

Adviser of the Cracow Mayor for the work with entrepreneurs Jan Okonski, Director of the Cracow Chamber of Commerce and Industry Wacław Andruszko and Minister of economy and industry of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Famil Seyidov made speeches at the meeting.

The delegation also held a meeting at the Cracow city administration.

Cracow Mayor Jacek Majchrowsk said the friendly ties between Poland and Azerbaijan had been developing successfully.

He noted there was good potential for enhancing bilateral ties, and congratulated the delegation on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Autonomous Republic.

Jacek Majchrowsk expressed confidence that the visit would contribute to expanding relations.

Azer Zeynalov gave information about the territory, population, structure of administration and socio-economic development of the Autonomous Republic.

They praised prospects for expanding bilateral ties in a variety of fields.

Azerbaijani ambassador to Poland Hasan Hasanov and officials of the Krakow city authorities were present at the meeting.

An official dinner was hosted in honor of the delegation of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic at the administrative building of the Cracow city authorities.

A concert dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was held on June 16 at the Opera House in Cracow.

Prior to the concert first deputy chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Azer Zeynalov, Deputy Mayor of Cracow and Ambassador Hasan Hasanov made speeches at the event.
