Hungary will attend the 5th plenary session of the Turkish-Speaking Countries Parliamentary Assembly (TURKPA).
Press service of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Hungary told APA that Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly László Kövér sent a letter to the Azerbaijani Parliament in this regard.
The letter related the decision to Hungarian people’s connection with the East and Turkic world, “expansion to the East” policy recently carried out by the country.
Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Hungary Shandor Lejak, Hungary’s former ambassador to Turkey Andras Kelemen will represent Hungary at the TURKPA session in Baku.
Lejak, who defends the idea that the Hungarians are people of Turkish descent, is a well-known playwright and historian, founder of Lakitelek People’s Academy in which the Azerbaijani language and history are being taught. Lejak is an official sponsor of biennial Hun-Turkish Congress being held since 2006.
