President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by a member of the British Parliament and Prime Ministerial Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, Charles Hendry.

Expressing his gratitude for the letter from British Prime Minister David Cameron on the occasion of the 21st International Exhibition and Conference “Caspian Oil and Gas: Refining and Petrochemicals”, President Ilham Aliyev noted the importance of the fact that the letter dwells upon cooperation between our countries in many spheres, the energy sector in particular.

Stressing that Azerbaijan and the UK have developed a strong partnership in the economic sphere, the President said that energy cooperation had enjoyed many years of success.

Touching upon the development of cooperation in the non-energy sector, President Ilham Aliyev pointed to the presence of good opportunities for the strengthening of relations in the fields of information and communication technologies, education, etc.

The head of state also emphasized that economic cooperation between the two countries was also on the agenda during a recent meeting with the British parliamentary delegation.

The member of the British Parliament and Prime Ministerial Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, Charles Hendry, thanked the President of Azerbaijan for the words about the UK, in particular about bp, spoken at the opening ceremony of the 21st International Exhibition and Conference “Caspian Oil and Gas: Refining and Petrochemicals” and noted that his country was interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan in many areas.
