Azerbaijan`s Tovuz and French Cognac have signed a protocol to become sister cities.
The protocol was signed by head of Tovuz Executive Authority Tofig Zeynalov and Cognac Mayor Michel Gourinchas in Tovuz.
Speaking at a press conference following the signing ceremony, Zeynalov said Tovuz had very favourable conditions for wine growing and viticulture. “The total area of grape plantations in the city is more than 600 hectares.”
“We are looking forward to building mutually beneficial cooperation with Cognac on this front.”
Gourinchas said there had facilities producing cognac in several European countries. He said Cognac had sister city relations with Denison in the USA, Königswinter in Germany and Valdepeñas in Spain. He said the protocol would contribute to bringing the people of the two countries closer to each other.
