“Thousands of Azerbaijani citizens were killed, genocide was committed against us. But eventually, no sanctions are imposed against Armenia. Why do not the “leaders” of so-called “Nagorno Karabakh Republic” suffer from sanctions? How long do we face these double standards?, said President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the outcomes of the socio-economic development of the first quarter of 2014 and tasks laying ahead, APA reports.
The Head of State said that Azerbaijan raises its voices against double standards in international organizations: “We ask the leaders of the Western countries that we cooperate not to allow the “leaders” of so-called “Nagorno Karabakh Republic” entering their countries and ask to introduce sanctions against them. The “leaders” of so-called “Nagorno Karabakh Republic” conduct illegal telethons and collect money in the Western countries. And then they use this money against us. The “leaders” of self-proclaimed “Nagorno Karabakh Republic” are welcomed in the leading Western countries. They obtain visas, open “representations” in these countries and make journeys. Why? I think it is high time to more clearly express our opinion on this issue. We are tired of these double standards.”
President Aliyev stressed that it is impossible to endure these injustices: “Why does not the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe discuss the cessation of the powers of the Armenian delegation? We have repeatedly raised this issue? I remember that in 2011, I, as head of the delegation of the Azerbaijani Parliament to PACE, repeatedly raised this issue. Nobody react it. They say, go negotiate and peacefully resolve this issue. Ethnic cleansing and genocide were committed us. The so-called referendum was held in Nagorno-Karabakh, after the expulsion of Azerbaijanis from this region. It is assumed that this is admissible. It is impossible to suffer. We should reveal injustice against us with facts and proofs. I think this principal position will restore justice and expose the hypocritical policy. We are still face to face with the hypocritical policy and double standards. We will never admit it. As for the settlement of the conflict, it is no secret that a major factor in today’s world is power. This is reality. Therefore, we have to be even stronger and increase our military power.”
