The meeting of the Chiefs of Staff Committee of the CIS member states has today kicked off in Baku.
Chiefs of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Kazakhstan and first Deputy Chiefs of General Staff of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan, representatives of CIS Executive Committee and Secretary of the CIS Council of Defense Ministers Alexander Sinaisky are attending the meeting, APA reports.
Though the Tajik Deputy Chief of Staff planned to participate in the meeting, he failed.
Armenia and Ukraine, the members of the Committee, are not taking part in the meeting.
The participants of the event visited the Alley of Honor and the Alley of Martyrs.
The event is chaired by Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov.
Delivering a keynote speech at the event, Secretary of the CIS Council of Defense Ministers Alexander Sinaisky spoke about the upcoming events of the CIS countries on military cooperation in 2020.
Afterwards, the representatives of various countries delivered lectures.
The meeting will consider the conceptual approaches to the development of military cooperation between the CIS countries and joint events for 2015-2020.
The joint establishment and improvement of military systems will be discussed as a part of the meeting. Moreover, the draft conception “On the joint state radar identification system”, the agreement “On the status of servicemen of sapper troops”, humanitarian mine clearance operations and the draft agreement “On exchange of geospatial information in accordance with the interests of the armed forces of the CIS countries” will be considered at the meeting. The meeting will also discuss the issues related to the preparation and organization of the competition on field training of the CIS countries’ armed forces.
