Azerbaijani Defense Minister: “We are trying to free our soldiers from non-military activities”

“First of all, our goal is to conform our army to modern armies”

 

 

Measures are underway to increase the number of civilians in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Defense Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov told journalists, APA reports.

 

He noted that civilians are widely used in NATO armies: “First of all, our goal is to bring our army to conformity with modern armies. Secondly, we are trying to free our soldiers from non-military activities. This is a very important issue, instruction of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. After implementing it, we will further strengthen discipline and devote more time to combat readiness of military personnel.”

 

Hasanov also noted that reforms are always carried out in the military build-up: “The army is supplied with modern weapons and military vehicles. Various measures need to be taken to use them. We continue working in this direction.”

 

The Minister said that measures would be taken at Azerbaijan High Military School named after Heydar Aliyev to train high-level personnel: “Supreme Commander-in-Chief has given important instructions regarding military build-up and these instructions are being carried out.
