Seminar on civil control over Afghanistan armed forces is being held at Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) in Baku. APA reports that Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov, representatives of the Foreign Ministry and Afghanistan Defense Ministry are attending the seminar.
Araz Azimov said Afghanistan had obtained an opportunity to establish a state free of religious ideology and basing on democratic principles. Noting several specific factors, he touched on the reintegration of Taliban fighters into the society.
“They are ethnic Afghans, a part of your nation. They should be reintegrated into the society,” he said.
Araz Azimov said the presidential elections in Afghanistan in April would determine who would replace ISAF mission.
