On the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of Khojaly genocide, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad bin Amin Madani paid tribute to the innocent people killed as a result of atrocities committed by the Armenian armed forces in 1992, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told APA.
He said that the occupation of the Azerbaijani territories by the Armenians led to the Khojaly genocide. He cited to the resolution adopted at the 40th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC in Conakry, the capital of Guinea, recognizing the massacre committed against the Azerbaijani people in the occupied territories as a crime against humanity.
Iyad bin Amin Madani recalled that the OIC supports initiatives and efforts of the Republic of Azerbaijan to put an end to the occupation of its lands and restore the territorial integrity. He extended his deepest condolences to the relatives of those killed in Khojaly genocide.
