The construction and reconstruction of roads and creation of communications in Azerbaijan is currently being conducted in a coordinated manner, head of Azeryolservis JSC of Azerbaijani Transport Ministry, Javid Gurbanov told journalists on Feb. 22.
Destruction of asphalt-concrete pavement during creation of communication lines leads to damage of motor roads and requires additional restoration costs.
He said the creation of infrastructure, i.e. construction of oil and water pipelines, is a necessity and an integral part of modern life.
Earlier there was no coherence in construction and reconstruction of motor roads and creation of infrastructure; in recent years there have been great progress in this issue.
“Now all these works are carried out in a coordinated manner on the basis of protocols,” Gurbanov said.
In 2013 the total length of roads operated in Azerbaijan stood at 19,000 kilometres against 18,750 kilometres in 2003.
Some 17,529 kilometres of operated motor roads are managed by Azeryolservis JSC. Throughout 10 years the length of constructed, reconstructed and repaired motor roads in Azerbaijan stood at 8,332 kilometres.
Currently the length of Azeryolservis’ motor roads, avenues and streets in Azerbaijani capital of Baku is 1525 kilometres.
The length of metropolitan roads constructed, reconstructed and repaired in 2008-2013 is 703.3 kilometres.
