Khojaly genocide video screened in public transport vehicles in Dresden

The Azerbaijanis living in Germany are holding events and actions to raise awareness in the country regarding the genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis in Khojaly 22 years ago.

 

Press service of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Diaspora told APA that Dresden-based Germany Azerbaijan Friendship Society organized screening of videos reflecting Khojaly genocide in the public transport vehicles (buses and trams) in Dresden. On February 15-16 20-second Khojaly video was shown every five minutes on the monitors in public transport vehicles. The video features Azerbaijan’s flag with the words Khojaly and 26.02.1992, the date, when the tragedy happened. This is replaced by captions “Azerbaijan commemorates victims of Khojaly tragedy happened during Azerbaijan-Armenia Nagorno Karabakh conflict”, “Killed: 613. Children: 83, Families: 8”, “Humanity tragedy against Azerbaijan”. The screening of the video will be continued on February 25-27.

 

An event was also organized in Dresden to commemorate the victims of Khojaly genocide. The genocide victims were commemorated with a minute silence. Chairman of Germany Azerbaijan Friendship Society Agahuseyn Babayev gave detailed information about the massacre.

 

Addressing the event, member of Saxony Council for Foreigners, Azerbaijani Azad Mammadov and his wife D.Weisgerber underlined the importance of raising awareness about Khojaly genocide. They said Sargsyan directly participated in the genocide and condemned the crimes committed by him.

 

Along with the Azerbaijanis living in Germany, Germans and representatives of other nations also attended the event.
