Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies held a board meeting on the outcomes of 2013.
Addressing the meeting, Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov underlined that 2013 was a significant year in terms of the development of ICT sector.
Press service of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies told APA-Economics that report was made on the work done and results produced in the field of communications and information technologies.
It was said that 14% growth was recorded in ICT sector compared to the previous year, AZN1 632 200 was generated in ICT, information and postal sector, the share of these incomes in GDP made up 1.9%. International internet bandwidth was increased by 10 Gbit/s and reached 210 Gbits/s. 70 in every 100 people in the country are Internet users, 50 in every 100 are broadband internet users, 110 mobile subscribers. Chiefs the Ministry’s units and enterprises made speeches on the report.
Making a closing speech at the board meeting, Minister touched on the future goals, said important tasks were set to continue and strengthen comprehensive development course. He underlined the importance of fulfilling the tasks arising from the speeches of President, relevant decrees and orders and state programs. Ali Abbasov said maintenance and increase of the successful development rate remains to be the major target in the coming years, gave relevant instructions to continue measures to develop cosmic industry, start new projects, review internet tariffs, increase its quality, regulation of tariffs of mobile operators, take necessary measures to organize broadband communication, increase postal services, organize extra services, enhance application of e-services, modernize postal and telecommunication network, complete switch to digital broadcasting, perfectly organize information and communication services in the 1st European Games in 2015.
