On Dec. 18, Paris hosted the 8th meeting of the UNESCO Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in Event of Armed Conflict, according to the message of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
New members of the committee’s bureau were elected at the beginning of the meeting.
Belgium was elected the president of the committee’s bureau; Azerbaijan, Egypt, Cambodia and Mali were elected the bureau’s vice presidents and Salvador was elected the reporting country.
Azerbaijan is being elected the bureau’s member for the second time, which speaks well about the country’s authority and activeness. The re-election of Azerbaijan to the bureau will allow defining the agenda of the next meeting, taking into account Azerbaijan’s national interest, and especially regularly discussing the issue of protection of cultural property in territories occupied by Armenia.
