Iranian President: There are forces unwilling to good relations between Iran and Azerbaijan

The head of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO) Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade visited Iran, APA reports quoting the official website of the President of Iran.

The delegation headed by the CMO chairman Allahshukur Pashazade was received by the President of Iran, Mahmud Ahmadinejad, on May 18. Members of Iran-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group include the delegation.

Iranian President at the meeting noted that the ties between the two countries are based on friendship, love and religion, and these relationships are significantly different in comparison with other countries, “Iran and Azerbaijan – two neighboring and brotherly nation and people. Islamic Republic of Iran rejoices at development and sovereignty of Azerbaijan and we hope that the country will achieve even greater success.”

According to Ahmadinejad, “Iran and Azerbaijan have always supported each other and with God’s help this will continue”: “There are forces unwilling to good relations between the two countries. They kept using unnecessary questions, try to harm relations between the two countries. However, as a result of the will of the officials of the two countries, these forces could not achieve their evil designs. Iran hopes that the country will develop and avoid evil thoughts and provocations. Our duty today is strengthening cooperation between the two countries. Therefore, we will not allow evil designs”.

Chairman of the CMO, in turn, brought to the attention of the President of Iran greetings of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan has always been interested in building a friendly and brotherly relations with Iran, “After your visit to Azerbaijan, at your invitation a number of Azerbaijani scholars and aksakals (Elders) visited Iran. I hope that such visits will serve as the expansion of ties between the two countries and strengthen fraternal relations.”

Chairman of Azerbaijan Elders Council Fattah Heydarov in his turn noted that the late Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev had always wished communication and cooperation between the two countries were at a high level: “We are now following His guidance, wish further improve relations with Iran. Iran has always supported Azerbaijan. Our government and the people have great respect for the leadership and people of Islamic Republic of Iran. “
