The developments ongoing in Eurozone and the crisis show that it is very difficult to have sustainable growth without government’s intervention and regulation, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in an interview to Russia 24 channel.
“I think, of course, we all had big illusions. At the current stage of development, the awareness grows that there’s no single liberal-democratic model. It does not exist, even in countries that claim its authorship,” Azerbaijani President underscored.
He added, that the developments ongoing in Eurozone, and the crisis shows that is very difficult to achieve sustainable growth without government’s intervention and regulation.
“The blame for the financial crisis lies mainly on the irresponsibility of politicians who, in fact, poked into pockets of future generations,” Azerbaijani President said, adding that those politicians did, or did not, realize the following consequences.
Ilham Aliyev noted that in principle, nothing has changed in the last 100 years in world politics, when viewed from a historical perspective, except for the forms to ensure particular national or global interests.
“The forms are different now, but the persuasion methods are pretty much the same. If they fail to work, the pressure is used. In case if that fails too, even more stringent measures are applied. Except for the shell, nothing in the world has changed,” Azerbaijani President underscored.
He further said that for a while, countries that gained their independence in the late 1990’s, were simply not aware of what is really going on.
“I think now, many of those, who have experienced illusions about the welfare, entry into some structures, feel deeply disappointed. In the past, as well as now, there has been a certain opposition in the spheres of influence. Some circles accept this on a very primitive level: the influence sphere is where you are saluted. The sphere of influence is really where you feel well and where you enjoy respect and support,” the Azerbaijani president said.
