Boris Tadić: Serbia supports Azerbaijan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and just position on Nagorno Karabakh conflict

Boris Tadić once more underlined that Serbia supports Azerbaijan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and our country’s just position on Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict, expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijani leadership for supporting Serbia in Kosovo issue. Touching on Serbia-Azerbaijan economic relations, Boris Tadić said despite revival in these relations in the past year, the potential of the two countries is not fully used, the governments and relevant agencies of the two countries have to do much to improve the relations.

Noting that Azerbaijan has geostrategic importance and large energy resources, Boris Tadić said Azerbaijan is pursuing balanced foreign and energy policy, his country is interested in the development of the relations with Azerbaijan in this field.

Elmar Mammadyarov gave detailed information about the political, economic, social situation, democratic reforms carried out in Azerbaijan, noted that the people strongly support President Ilham Aliyev’s successful domestic and foreign policy aiming to maintain political stability, economic development. Speaking about the aggressive policy of Armenia against Azerbaijan, Minister said UN’s four resolutions on unconditional withdrawal of occupying forces from the 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territories were still not implemented by Armenia, he gave information about the activity of OSCE Minsk Group towards the solution of the conflict. Minister also underlined the importance of solving the conflict only within the framework of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, inviolability of borders and norms and principles of the international law.

Touching on Azerbaijan-Serbia bilateral relations, Minister said despite the enhancement of the economic cooperation between the two countries in the recent years, the relations in this field is lower than the current potential, underlined that there is large potential for the development of the cooperation.
