According to APA, representatives of US, Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan attended the conference. Head of the Public Relations Department of US Embassy in Azerbaijan Terry Davidson told APA they had discussed the issue of easing the shipment to Afghanistan. “Afghanistan is a prior region for US and NATO. We see Azerbaijan as a reliable partner in establishing peace and development in Afghanistan. Azerbaijan was a bridge between the West and East for long years and has an exclusive role in the shipment from the East to West and return. Therefore it is natural that this conference was held in Azerbaijan”.
Terry Davidson said the United States was reviewing different alternatives for shipment to Afghanistan and Azerbaijan’s transit opportunities were also among those routes. “If it takes place, Azerbaijan will open new opportunities for the business people of Turkey and Georgia. The shipment to Afghanistan has no military character and it is shipment of water, food and construction materials”.
