Samad Seyidov, Head of Azerbaijani delegation to PACE has today addressed MM spring session on outcomes of PACE winter session, APA reports.

Seyidov stressed that Azerbaijan had implemented commitments undertaken in the Council of Europe. MP stated that law on alternative service was not adopted , because of current war situation between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Seyidov underlined that Azerbaijan expected same approach from the Council of Europe.
“But Azerbaijan receives illogical approach from CE. 2008 presidential elections were democratic in Azerbaijan. International actors have also stated their opinions . Why there is same approach towards Azerbaijan in comparison with Armenia, where presidential elections were resulted with political prisoners, pressure on media and death toll? It is unbearable and it shows that CE pursues double policy towards Azerbaijan. They did not focus on problems in Armenia. They look for problems in Azerbaijan. They attempt to appoint a rapporteur on political prisoner and breach of human rights in Azerbaijan, not taking processes into account .I stated position of Azerbaijani President and MM. Azerbaijan will change its policy towards the Council of Europe within such condition,” he added.
Seyidov added that process in CE aim to put pressure on Azerbaijan.
“They want to change approach angle of Azerbaijan. It is unacceptable to identify Azerbaijan with Armenia,” he said.
