Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) began its first meeting of spring session, APA reports.

In his opening speech, Speaker Ogtay Asadov said the Parliament would have heavy working schedule in the spring session. He said reports of the government, Human Rights Commissioner, Justice Ministry’s municipality center would be heard at the session and the Parliament would again review the state budget 2009 in May.

The Speaker reminded that the Parliament was an initiator of the Draft Referendum Act on the amendments and annexes to the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the heavy working schedule was expecting them on this issue. Asadov also said that Mili Majlis would not remain indifferent to reports about the Russian arm shipment worth of 800 million dollars to Armenia. “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministry are learning this question. There is an Azerbaijan-Russia Friendship Group in the Parliament. The lawmakers proposed to send several members of that group to Russia to meet with Russian parliamentarians and to investigate the issue. Then we will discuss the issue at the Parliament”.
