GUAM Secretary General Valery Chechelashvili noted that elections had been held very calmly and it coincided with international norms.
“There was good atmosphere in the elections. We announced that there would be voter turnout not lower than 70% basing on our observations yesterday. We did not mistake”, he said.
The Secretary General assessed the participation of youths in the elections as great future capacity of the country.
“GUAM announced that democratic presidential elections meeting international norms were conducted in Azerbaijan. We consider that elections were turned out”, he said.
GUAM Observation Mission included two Georgian parliamentarians, three officials of Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, two officials of Ukrainian Embassy in Azerbaijan. GUAM observers followed presidential elections in 31 polling stations and announced their first opinion after vote end.
